Sospiro Il Padrino opens with black currant, rum and amaretto, lifted by a little bergamot. The start is boozy and sweet, the dark fruit and the liqueur note pulling it towards a dessert rather than a cocktail.

Amber, patchouli and sandalwood form the heart. The amber gives it warmth and weight, the patchouli a darker edge, and the sandalwood smooths the structure. Nathalie Templer and Salah Al Zarooni composed it for Sospiro in 2025.

Vanilla, Siam benzoin and labdanum carry the base into a sweet, resinous dry-down. It is loud and long-wearing, made for autumn and winter evenings, and one or two sprays are enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Sospiro Il Padrino smell like?

Sospiro Il Padrino is a boozy, sweet amber fragrance: black currant, rum, amaretto and bergamot over amber, patchouli and sandalwood, settling into vanilla, Siam benzoin and labdanum. The rum and amaretto give the opening its liqueur character, and the amber and resins make the rest warm and dense. On Fragrantica, fruity, amber and woody are its three strongest accords.

How long does Il Padrino last, and how strong is the projection?

Il Padrino has a reputation as a strong performer. Of the Fragrantica reviews we read in October 2026, 90 of the 103 that rated longevity called it long lasting or eternal, and 80 of the 103 that rated sillage called it strong or enormous. Start with one or two sprays. Wear time and projection vary with skin, application and weather; there is no guaranteed number of hours. A decant lets you assess Il Padrino over several full wears.

When and where should I wear Il Padrino?

Il Padrino is a cold-weather, evening fragrance. Fragrantica voters put winter and autumn well ahead of spring, with summer far behind, and night about two to one over day. Choose it for dinners, evenings out and colder days when a sweet, boozy amber scent is welcome; in summer heat it can feel heavy.

Is Il Padrino for men or women?

Fragnatium lists Sospiro Il Padrino under Unisex, with a male-leaning category. Sospiro presents it as unisex and Fragrantica lists it for women and men, but the fragrances its community pairs it with, such as By Kilian Angels' Share and Initio Side Effect, sit on the masculine side. These are browsing categories, not rules about who can wear it. Its scent profile is rum, amaretto and dark fruit over amber, vanilla and resins. Anyone who enjoys that style can wear it.

Are Fragnatium's Il Padrino decants authentic?

Yes. Fragnatium fills Sospiro Il Padrino decants from an original fragrance bottle purchased from a fragrance retailer. The liquid is transferred into a smaller, labelled atomiser; it is not an imitation or a manufacturer-packaged miniature.

What is a fragrance decant, and why should I try one?

A decant is a measured portion of the original fragrance transferred into a smaller atomiser. Fragnatium offers Sospiro Il Padrino in 2 ml, 5 ml and 10 ml decants. Choose 2 ml for an initial skin trial, 5 ml for repeat wears, or 10 ml when you already enjoy the scent or want a travel size. You receive the selected decant, not the full-size bottle pictured.
