L'Oréal

Valentino batch code checker

Valentino fragrances have been made by L'Oréal since January 2019, and bottles from then on carry the group's code, with a year letter in third place — the system Armani and Saint Laurent use. We checked it against Valentino bottles posted online with a date, from Born in Roma Donna and Uomo to Coral Fantasy and Born in Roma Extradose, and every one sat where its letter puts it. Older Valentino bottles, from the Puig years, carry five plain digits and do not read here, which says nothing bad about them.

You can also enter a printed manufacture date, e.g. MFG: 01/2024. Expiry dates are not production dates.

Free, no signup. We save the submitted brand, code and result to improve this checker. Please enter only the batch code.

We do not stock Valentino. Try these decants in a similar style

Fragrances from other houses are picked because they share main accords with the best-known Valentino fragrances. They are different perfumes, not copies.

Where Valentino prints the code

On the underside of the bottle and on the base of the box, the same code on both.

What the characters mean

Six or seven characters on bottles made since 2019: two characters for the filling site, a letter standing for the year, then three or four characters we do not read. Bottles from before 2019 carry five plain digits instead.

Valentino batch code questions

Why does my older Valentino bottle have a five-digit code?

Because it was made before 2019, when Puig held the Valentino fragrance licence. Puig stamps short numeric codes — Valentino Uomo and Uomo Noir bottles from those years carry codes like 60741 and 80401 — and nobody outside Puig has published what the digits mean. Those bottles are not suspect for failing to decode here; they come from a different production system.

How far back can a Valentino batch code be dated?

To 2019, when L'Oréal began making Valentino fragrances. A 2019 code reads as that year exactly, because there was no L'Oréal Valentino before it. Later codes give the year their letter stands for and the year before as the one alternative, since nobody has shown that the letter changes on 1 January.

Can a batch code tell me my Born in Roma is genuine?

No. Fakes exist and often reuse real codes, so a code can raise a flag but never clear a bottle. A code on the bottle that does not match the one on the box is a warning sign, not proof. Buying from an authorised retailer is the only check Valentino itself endorses.

Same scheme, other houses

These brands are also made by L'Oréal. A shared maker does not guarantee a shared code layout, so each page describes the codes we have actually seen for that house.

Try it before you commit

Checking a batch code is usually a way of asking whether a bottle is worth the money. A decant answers that on your own skin, poured from a bottle whose source we log — no marketplace gamble, no full-bottle regret.
