Louis Vuitton Nouveau Monde opens with saffron and black currant. The saffron is dry and warm, and the fruit gives the start a dark, slightly tart edge rather than sweetness.

Leather, cacao and rose form the heart. The leather leads, the cacao adds a bitter, roasted depth, and the rose keeps the structure from turning into a gourmand. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed it in 2018 for the house's men's line.

Oud, olibanum and amberwood carry the base, softened by caramel, vanilla and patchouli. It is dense and long-wearing, better suited to autumn and winter evenings than to warm days, and one or two sprays go a long way.
