The Estée Lauder Companies

Tom Ford batch code checker

Tom Ford fragrances are manufactured under The Estée Lauder Companies, which means they carry the same three-character batch code that Estée Lauder stamps across its entire fragrance portfolio. It is one of the few schemes in perfumery that is genuinely readable without a proprietary database — the code tells you the line, the month and the year directly.

Free, no signup, nothing stored. Codes are read in your browser session and never saved against you.

Recent production

Well within the range where every fragrance family performs as the perfumer intended.

  • The year is exact for our bottle. The code alone could also read as 2016, 2006, but Black Orchid Parfum was launched in 2020, and bottles are filled months before a launch, not years — which leaves 2026.
  • We read this house's published format, but have not yet re-checked the rule against bottles with a confirmed purchase date. Treat the month as indicative.
  • A batch code dates a bottle. It does not authenticate one — a convincing counterfeit will carry a well-formed code.

We pour from a bottle with this code

The same batch code is on the source bottle behind these decants. That tells you where our decants come from, not when the bottle was filled — the date above is still a reading of the code.

Where Tom Ford prints the code

Etched or ink-stamped on the underside of the bottle, and printed on the bottom flap of the outer box. On Private Blend bottles it is usually on the glass base rather than the label.

What the characters mean

Three characters: a product-line character, then the month (1–9 for January–September, A, B or C for October, November, December), then the last digit of the year.

Worked example

A63

reads as June 2023

Tom Ford batch code questions

Where is the batch code on a Tom Ford bottle?

Look at the underside of the glass — Tom Ford Private Blend bottles carry the code etched or stamped directly on the base, not on a sticker. The same code is printed on the bottom flap of the outer box, so you can cross-check the two. If the code on the box and the code on the bottle do not match, treat the bottle as suspect.

Does a Tom Ford batch code prove my bottle is authentic?

No. A batch code tells you when a bottle was filled, not whether it is genuine — counterfeiters copy plausible-looking codes. What a code can do is expose a fake: a code that does not fit the Estée Lauder format at all, or one that decodes to a date before the fragrance was launched, is a strong warning sign. Authenticity has to be judged on the whole package.

How long does a Tom Ford fragrance last after the batch date?

Stored away from light and heat, an unopened Tom Ford eau de parfum is typically good for several years past its fill date, and the heavier Private Blend orientals — Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood — often improve slightly in the first year or two. Fresh citrus-forward compositions are the ones worth using sooner.

Same scheme, other houses

These brands sit under The Estée Lauder Companies and stamp their bottles the same way, so if you can read one you can read them all.

Try Tom Ford before you commit

Checking a batch code is usually a way of asking whether a bottle is worth the money. A Tom Ford decant answers that on your own skin, poured from a bottle whose source we log — no marketplace gamble, no full-bottle regret.
