L'Oréal
Prada batch code checker
Prada fragrance is made under licence within L'Oréal and carries the group's year letter in the third character. One caveat particular to Prada: the beauty licence has changed hands, so a bottle old enough to predate the move may not follow this layout at all and will simply not read. That is a feature — a code that refuses here is more likely an older Prada than a fake one.

Mature but sound
Normal for retail stock. Heavier orientals, woods and ambers are unaffected at this age; bright citrus openings may have softened slightly.
- This house writes the year as a letter, and does not publish which letter means which year. We have pinned each letter to a year from bottles with known dates — bought, posted or launched — so this reads as 2023. We cannot rule out that the letter changes part-way through a year, so 2022 is possible too.
- This code gives the year but not the month, so the age above assumes the earliest date in that year. The bottle may be up to eleven months younger than it looks here.
- We read this house's format, but have not yet re-checked the rule against bottles with a confirmed purchase date. Treat the year as indicative.
- A batch code dates a bottle. It does not authenticate one — a convincing counterfeit will carry a well-formed code.
We pour from a bottle with this code
The same batch code is on the source bottle behind these decants. That tells you where our decants come from, not when the bottle was filled — the date above is still a reading of the code.
Where Prada prints the code
Ink-jetted on the base of the bottle and printed on the bottom flap of the box.
What the characters mean
Six or seven characters — every one we have seen is one or the other. The third is a letter standing for the year; we have not established what the fourth means, and no longer claim it is a month.

Prada batch code questions
Why does my Prada code look like an Armani code?
Because the bottles come out of the same production infrastructure. Prada, Armani and Saint Laurent fragrances are all made within L'Oréal, so their codes share a structure. That resemblance is a fact about the filler, not a decoding shortcut — the layout is still unpublished and still varies by site.
Does Luna Rossa Ocean go off quickly?
Its opening does more than its base. The Luna Rossa line is built on bright aromatic and citrus materials over an ambery foundation, and it is the top notes that flatten first. A well-stored bottle a few years old will still smell like itself, just with a less vivid first ten minutes.
Is a missing or smudged code on a Prada bottle a red flag?
Not by itself. These codes are ink-jetted onto glass and rub off with handling, particularly on bottles carried in a bag. What does matter is disagreement: if the box and the bottle both carry legible codes and they do not match, treat that seriously.
Same scheme, other houses
These brands sit under L'Oréal and stamp their bottles the same way, so if you can read one you can read them all.
Try Prada before you commit
Checking a batch code is usually a way of asking whether a bottle is worth the money. A Prada decant answers that on your own skin, poured from a bottle whose source we log — no marketplace gamble, no full-bottle regret.
