L'Oréal

Prada batch code checker

Prada fragrance has been made by L'Oréal since 2021, and its codes carry the group's year letter in the third character. Bottles from before the move were made by Puig and carry Puig's five-digit code instead, whose first digit is the year; we read that layout only for Prada's Puig years, 2003 to 2021. A refusal means the code is outside both layouts; on its own it says nothing about whether the bottle is genuine.

You can also enter a printed manufacture date, e.g. MFG: 01/2024. Expiry dates are not production dates.

Free, no signup. We save the submitted brand, code and result to improve this checker. Please enter only the batch code.

Try Prada as a decant first

Fragrances from other houses are picked because they share main accords with the best-known Prada fragrances. They are different perfumes, not copies.

Where Prada prints the code

Ink-jetted on the base of the bottle and printed on the bottom flap of the box.

What the characters mean

Two layouts. Bottles made by L'Oréal since 2021 carry six or seven characters, the third a letter standing for the year. Older bottles, made by Puig, carry five digits: the last digit of the year, the day of the year, then a fill-line digit (63071 is a 2016 bottle). We read the year from both, and nothing finer.

38Y11SK

reads as 2024

Prada batch code questions

Why does my Prada code look like an Armani code?

Because the bottles come out of the same production infrastructure. Prada, Armani and Saint Laurent fragrances are all made within L'Oréal, so their codes share a structure. That resemblance is a fact about the filler, not a decoding shortcut — the layout is still unpublished and still varies by site.

Does Luna Rossa Ocean go off quickly?

Its opening does more than its base. The Luna Rossa line is built on bright aromatic and citrus materials over an ambery foundation, and it is the top notes that flatten first. A well-stored bottle a few years old will still smell like itself, just with a less vivid first ten minutes.

Is a missing or smudged code on a Prada bottle a red flag?

Not by itself. These codes are ink-jetted onto glass and rub off with handling, particularly on bottles carried in a bag. What does matter is disagreement: if the box and the bottle both carry legible codes and they do not match, treat that seriously.

Same scheme, other houses

These brands are also made by L'Oréal. A shared maker does not guarantee a shared code layout, so each page describes the codes we have actually seen for that house.

Before you buy a full bottle of Prada

Try a scent on your skin for a few days before you pay for a full bottle. Each decant is poured from a full-size bottle whose source we log.

Try Prada before you commit

Checking a batch code is usually a way of asking whether a bottle is worth the money. A Prada decant answers that on your own skin, poured from a bottle whose source we log — no marketplace gamble, no full-bottle regret.
